Unified Partners are teammates without intellectual disabilities who train and compete alongside Special Olympics athletes. Together, athletes and Unified Partners build friendships, develop teamwork, and demonstrate the power of inclusion through sport.

Whoever you are, becoming a Unified Partner is an opportunity to make a difference, both on and off the field of play.

Fill out the Class A Volunteer & Unified Partner Registration Form to let us know you’re interested in becoming a Unified Partner.

After submitting your registration, you’ll receive emails to:

  • Complete your background check (required for volunteers 18+). After you submit your Class A Volunteer & Unified Partner Registration Form, you’ll receive an email from Sterling, our background check partner, with instructions to complete your background check.
  • Complete Protective Behaviors Training

Once you’ve submitted your registration, a Special Olympics Maine staff member or Regional Manager will contact you to learn about your interests and connect you with Unified sports opportunities in your area!
